Martin Thompson is an award-winning actor, with decades of credits in TV, fIlm, and stage. As a former New Yorker, his daytime television work included recurring roles on The Guiding Light, The Edge of Night, and All My Children, plus hundreds of appearances on the New York stage and in regional theatres nationwide, including the world famous Barter Theatre, Theatre in the Square, and the American Theatre of Actors.
His motion picture credits include Spies, Mr. Destiny, and Billy Bathgate with Dustin Hoffman. He stars opposite Kevin Costner in The New Daughter, and with Dean Jones and Hayley Mills in the Mandie movie series. Most recently, he premiered opposite Paul Rudd in Wanderlust for Universal Pictures, and with Colin Firth in Main Street, the final screenplay by the legendary Horton Foote. His currently running television appearances include Lake Effects opposite Jane Seymour for Hallmark, NCIS Los Angeles, this season’s Criminal Minds, and the upcoming CBS series Scorpion.
As an acting teacher and coach for over two decades, Thompson has developed a powerful and passionate style of teaching – from the Actor’s Point of View – providing an extremely strong foundation, while inspiring creative, imaginative, and truthful performance from each of his students. He is highly trained in the methods of Stanislavski, Meisner, Adler, and Strasberg, and an expert in the techniques of the legendary Uta Hagen, with whom he studied at HB Studio
